Why Finnish Lapland?

Finnish Lapland is where we started. After 15 years and over 300 journeys here, we know this landscape about as well as anyone can. The real reason we keep coming back is simpler: Lapland offers genuine wilderness combined with luxury accommodation and refined logistics. You don't have to choose between adventure and comfort here. You get both.

Finnish Lapland: where wilderness meets refined Arctic luxury

The frozen forests of Lapland. A landscape that redefines what silence sounds like.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Finnish Lapland?

Season by Season

01

September–October (Ruska)

First northern lights alongside the Finnish autumn colours. Birch forests turn brilliant orange and red. Temperatures at -10 to -15°C. Excellent photography conditions.

02

November–December (Polar Night)

Snow arrives, near-24-hour darkness intensifies the aurora. Christmas in Lapland is unlike anywhere else: reindeer sleigh rides, thermal pools under the stars.

03

January–February (Peak Aurora)

Consistent snow cover, stunning blue midday light, temperatures around -30°C. Glass igloo properties book out 8-12 months in advance.

04

March (Sweet Spot)

Longer daylight, spring skiing, continued aurora activity, and the start of wildlife migration. Best for families and active travelers.

Why Where You Stay Matters

Boutique Lodges

Private cabins in the Arctic, chosen for location, experience, and connection to nature.

Away from Crowds

No tour buses, no fixed schedules. Personal and private. The way the Arctic should be experienced.

Better Locations

Set in forests, coastal areas, and remote landscapes. Closer to nature and away from tourist zones.

More Flexibility

Travel at your own pace with experiences that feel natural, not rushed or over-scheduled.

Curated Properties

Places like Sixty Eight North. Private forest cabins where Arctic experiences begin outside your door.

Our Approach

We select stays that match how we design journeys: well-located, experience-driven, connected.

What Are the Must-Do Experiences?

Defining Lapland Experiences

01

Glass Igloo Aurora Viewing

Lying in bed watching the northern lights overhead. Heated frames, radiant floors, private saunas. 90%+ aurora success rate across a season.

02

Brown Bear Watching

June through September in wilderness hides. 95% success rates at peak. Not a zoo, but an exercise in patience that transforms most guests.

03

Multi-Hour Husky Safaris

Not tourist loops. Routes through untouched forest with experienced mushers who teach dog behaviour and Arctic ecology.

04

Smoke Sauna

Authentic log-fired saunas where birch smoke infuses the experience. Private settings, 80°C, and the kind of silence that feels sacred.

05

Sámi Reindeer Encounters

Cultural context beyond the sleigh ride. Working animals and herders whose families have lived alongside reindeer for generations.

06

Arctic Fire Cooking

Fresh char and reindeer over open flames in the snow. The cold air, the smoke, the landscape. It completes the picture.

Glass igloos enable an intimate connection to the Aurora. Watching the lights from your bed is a memory that endures.

How Much Does a Luxury Lapland Trip Cost?

Our private Finnish Lapland journeys typically range from €8,000 to €18,000 per person for 5-8 days. Peak winter (December through February) sits at the higher end due to demand and optimal aurora conditions.
