At The Journey Designed, every destination we offer is carefully chosen. Not only for its landscapes or experiences, but for what it represents.

Over the years, we have built our company around nature-led travel, wildlife respect, and thoughtful tourism. Much of the work we do takes place in remote parts of the Arctic and North Atlantic, where the connection between humans and nature is deeply felt. That relationship has always mattered to us.

After following the latest news and footage surrounding the Grind in the Faroe Islands, we made the decision to remove the destination entirely from our portfolio and future journeys.

“This was not a quick or emotional decision.”

The Faroe Islands are undeniably beautiful. The landscapes are dramatic, the nature is powerful, and we have genuinely appreciated many of the people and experiences we encountered there over the years. This is not about attacking a population or simplifying a deeply rooted issue into something black and white.

But as a company, we also believe that where we choose to send our guests reflects what we support and stand behind. And at this stage, continuing to promote the Faroe Islands no longer aligns with our values.

We understand that opinions around this topic vary widely. We also recognize that cultural traditions and outside perspectives often collide in complicated ways. But for us personally and professionally, we cannot separate wildlife experiences and responsible tourism from the images and events we continue to witness.

“Travel has influence.”

The destinations we promote receive visibility, attention, and economic support. Because of that, we believe travel companies also carry a responsibility to make intentional decisions about the places they choose to represent.

This decision is not about outrage, publicity, or performance.

“It is simply about alignment.”

As we continue to grow, we want our portfolio to reflect the kind of tourism we genuinely believe in. Quiet experiences in nature. Respect for wildlife. Smaller-scale travel. Thoughtful journeys designed around connection rather than consumption.

That philosophy will continue guiding where we go next.
